"the framerate was tied to the game speed"........HOW do you mess up on this level? Were the Austin devs completely new or just maybe an accident? I have only made one video game from in my life...a flappy bird clone using my dog with big ears and bones as the pipes. It had three difficulties and a locally saved high score. Super super basic....and even that basic project required being aware of a similar issue...solving it using delta time. Im NOT someone you could consider a "programmer"....but I feel like this issue must be SO common in game development. As of course the frame rate varies constantly and game mechanics need to be balanced on a reliable timeframe and not just...however many frames can fit into that second. So to me it is absolutely wild that this "bug" even made it to live. A complete oversight. Nobody must have tested that part of the game or else the bug would have been almost immediately noticed....and considering that that "part" of the game is player movement...I can't believe they had an "oof" that big. I guess shit happens? Heard 76 is pretty chill now though. Havent played it.
